H1 & H2 Physics

From Newtonian mechanics to quantum physics — we coach students to build deep conceptual understanding and the problem-solving precision that A-Level Physics demands.

All content is aligned with the requirements set out in the 2025 H1 Physics Syllabus (8867) and the 2025 H2 Physics Syllabus (9749) published by the Ministry of Education Singapore.

Select Your Track

H2 Physics is the standard track for science-stream students. H1 Physics is a lighter option typically chosen by students not majoring in physical sciences.

Syllabus 8867 • 11 topics • 4 sections

A subset of H2 Physics. Excludes Waves, Thermal Physics and Oscillations. Suitable for students taking Physics as a contrasting subject.

H1 Physics — 11 Topics, 4 Sections

H1 Physics covers Foundations, Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, and Nuclear Physics. Waves, Thermal Physics, and Oscillations are not included.

Section I: Foundations of Physics
Establishes the language and tools of physics — units, vectors, Newton's laws, and energy frameworks.

Quantities & Measurement

Forces & Moments

Motion & Forces

Energy & Fields

Key Skills

Extends Newtonian mechanics to two-dimensional motion, momentum conservation, and orbital dynamics.

Projectile Motion

Collisions

Circular Motion & Gravitation

Key Skills

Covers charge flow, circuit analysis, and the interplay of electric and magnetic fields.

Currents

Circuits

Electromagnetism

Key Skills

Introduces radioactive decay, nuclear reactions, and mass-energy equivalence.

Nuclear Physics

Syllabus 9749 • 20 topics • 6 sections

Full A-Level Physics for science-stream students. Includes Waves, Thermal Physics, and Paper 4 Practical. Recommended for students targeting science or engineering at university.

H2 Physics — 20 Topics, 6 Sections

H2 Physics is a comprehensive treatment of classical and modern physics. H1 Physics is a subset — Sections I, II (partial), III and IV are shared; Waves and Thermal Physics are H2-only.

Section I: Foundations of Physics
Same foundational framework as H1, but with greater mathematical rigour and vector analysis depth.

Quantities & Measurement

Forces & Moments

Motion & Forces

Energy & Fields

Key Skills

Extends to gravitational field theory and oscillatory motion — topics absent from H1.

Projectile Motion

Collisions

Circular Motion

Gravitational Fields

Oscillations

Key Skills

Introduces transverse and longitudinal waves, interference, diffraction, and standing waves — exclusive to H2.

Wave Motion

Superposition

Key Skills

Covers kinetic theory, ideal gas laws, and the first law of thermodynamics — exclusive to H2.

Temperature & Ideal Gases

Thermodynamic Systems

Key Skills

Full treatment of electrostatics, circuit theory, and electromagnetic induction — significantly deeper than H1.

Electric Fields

H1 vs H2 Physics — Key Differences

H2 Physics includes three additional sections not in H1: Waves (Wave Motion, Superposition), Thermal Physics (Temperature & Ideal Gases, Thermodynamic Systems), and Oscillations. H2 also includes a Paper 4 Practical examination worth 20% of the grade.

JC1

Building a Rigorous Foundation

JC1 Physics introduces concepts that are qualitatively different from O-Level. Many students underestimate the conceptual leap. Our JC1 coaching focuses on building genuine understanding — not just formula memorisation.

Conceptual Clarity First

We ensure students understand the 'why' before the 'how' — especially for abstract topics like electric fields, SHM and wave superposition.

Mathematical Fluency

Calculus-based derivations, vector resolution in 3D, and uncertainty analysis are introduced progressively with guided practice.

Laboratory Skills (H2)

Paper 4 Practical skills — experimental design, data analysis, error estimation — are built from JC1 to avoid last-minute cramming.

Common Misconceptions

We proactively address the most common conceptual errors (e.g. confusing force with energy, or velocity with acceleration) before they become entrenched.

JC2

Exam Mastery & Integration

JC2 Physics is about integrating knowledge across sections and performing under exam conditions. Our coaching targets the specific skills that distinguish an A from a B — precision in language, multi-concept problem solving, and data interpretation.

Multi-Concept Problem Solving

A-Level questions routinely combine 2–3 sections. We train students to identify which concepts apply and sequence their working clearly.

Data-Based Questions

Papers 2 and 3 include stimulus-based questions with unfamiliar contexts. We practise the skill of applying known physics to novel scenarios.

Timed Full-Paper Practice

Regular timed mock papers under exam conditions, with detailed marking and feedback, to build speed, accuracy and exam composure.
