Mathematics Coaching

From Foundation to PSLE Mastery

Our Primary Mathematics programme follows closely with the latest MOE syllabus, guiding students from number sense in P1 to confident PSLE performance in P6.

Our programme follows closely with the latest MOE syllabus. All topics, concepts and skills on this page are drawn from the 2021 Primary Mathematics Syllabus (Updated October 2025) published by the Curriculum Planning and Development Division, MOE Singapore.

P1 – P2

Primary 1 & 2: Building Number Sense & Foundational Fluency

The P1–P2 years lay the critical groundwork for all future mathematical learning. Students are introduced to numbers, the four operations, basic measurement, shapes, and simple data reading. The focus is on building genuine number sense, not just rote memorisation — ensuring every child understands the ‘why’ behind the ‘how’.

MOE Syllabus Topics

The following topics are drawn directly from the 2021 MOE Primary Mathematics Syllabus. Our coaching covers every topic in depth.

Number & Algebra

P2 students sit school-based semestral assessments. We prepare students for these with structured practice on word problems, mental sums, and the key question types their school assessments typically cover.

How Aspire Hub Helps at Primary Math 1 & 2

01

Making Number Sense Concrete

We use visual models — number bonds, bar models, and manipulatives — to ensure students truly understand place value and the relationship between numbers, not just procedures.

02

Multiplication Table Mastery

Our structured practice approach builds multiplication table fluency through patterns, games, and spaced repetition — giving students a strong mental arithmetic foundation for all future topics.

03

Closing Foundational Gaps Early

Our diagnostic process identifies exactly where a student is hesitating — whether it’s regrouping in subtraction or understanding fractions — and we address these gaps before they compound.

01

Building Confidence Through Success

Every session is designed to give students achievable wins. We celebrate progress, reinforce correct thinking, and ensure students approach each new concept with confidence rather than anxiety.

OUR APPROACH TO MATHEMATICS

We Don't Just Teach Procedures. We Build Mathematical Thinkers.

Many students can follow steps but struggle when questions are presented differently. At Aspire Hub, we go beyond procedures — we build the conceptual understanding that allows students to adapt, reason, and solve problems they have never seen before.

Our coaches are trained in the Singapore Mathematics approach, including the concrete-pictorial-abstract (CPA) progression, the bar model method, and the heuristics framework used in PSLE. Every session is designed to deepen understanding, not just cover content.

P3 – P4

Primary 3 & 4: Deepening Conceptual Understanding & Problem-Solving

P3 and P4 mark a significant step up in mathematical complexity. Students move from basic arithmetic to multi-step problem solving, fractions, decimals, and geometry. This is the stage where many students begin to struggle if foundational gaps are not addressed. Our coaching ensures students build a deep, connected understanding of each new concept.

MOE Syllabus Topics

The following topics are drawn directly from the 2021 MOE Primary Mathematics Syllabus. Our coaching covers every topic in depth.

Number & Algebra

P3 and P4 students sit school-based semestral assessments that increasingly include multi-step word problems. We prepare students for these with structured problem-solving practice, ensuring they can identify the correct operation, set up the working, and present answers clearly.

How Aspire Hub Helps at Primary Math 3 & 4

01

The Bar Model Approach

We teach students to use Singapore’s signature bar model method to visualise and solve multi-step word problems — a critical skill that underpins success from P3 all the way to PSLE.

02

Fractions and Decimals Made Clear

Fractions and decimals are where many students lose confidence. We use visual representations and step-by-step reasoning to ensure students understand the relationship between these concepts, not just the procedures.

03

Structured Answering Techniques

We introduce students to the habit of showing working clearly and systematically — a skill that earns marks in school assessments and builds the discipline needed for PSLE.

01

Targeted Practice on Weak Areas

After each diagnostic, we create a focused practice plan that addresses specific gaps — whether it’s long division, fraction operations, or angle calculations — so no topic is left unresolved.

P5 – P6

Primary 5 & 6: PSLE Readiness — Strategy, Precision & Exam Confidence

P5 and P6 are the most critical years in primary mathematics. The syllabus introduces advanced topics — percentages, rate, algebra, ratio, and circle geometry — while demanding higher-order thinking in multi-step word problems. Our P5–P6 coaching is strategically designed to build mastery of every PSLE topic, sharpen problem-solving strategies, and develop the exam confidence students need to perform at their best.

MOE Syllabus Topics

The following topics are drawn directly from the 2021 MOE Primary Mathematics Syllabus. Our coaching covers every topic in depth.

Number & Algebra

P6 students sit the PSLE Mathematics paper, which consists of Booklet A (short-answer questions) and Booklet B (long-answer word problems). We prepare students for both booklets with targeted practice, ensuring they are confident in both procedural accuracy and multi-step reasoning.

How Aspire Hub Helps at Primary Math 5 & 6

01

PSLE-Aligned Problem Solving

Our P5–P6 curriculum is built around the PSLE format. We train students on every question type — from straightforward procedural questions to complex multi-step problems — using real past-year papers and structured heuristics.

02

Ratio, Percentage and Algebra Mastery

These three topics are the most commonly tested at PSLE and the most frequently misunderstood. We dedicate focused sessions to building genuine conceptual clarity in each, with progressive practice from basic to exam-level difficulty.

03

Heuristics and Problem-Solving Strategies

We teach students a toolkit of problem-solving strategies — including the bar model, working backwards, making a table, and guess-and-check — so they can approach unfamiliar problems with confidence rather than panic.

01

Timed Practice and Exam Technique

In the months leading up to PSLE, we incorporate timed practice under exam conditions, teaching students how to manage time, check their work, and maximise marks on every section of the paper.
