Science Coaching

From Curiosity to PSLE Mastery

Our Primary Chinese programme follows closely with the latest MOE syllabus, building confident Mandarin communicators and skilled writers from P1 through to PSLE.

Our programme follows closely with the latest MOE syllabus. All topics, themes and learning outcomes on this page are drawn from the 2023 Primary Science Syllabus published by the Curriculum Planning and Development Division, MOE Singapore.

Science is introduced at Primary 3. The MOE Primary Science syllabus covers Primary 3 to Primary 6, organised around five themes: Diversity, Cycles, Systems, Interactions, and Energy. Our coaching covers all topics across both level groups below.

P3 – P4

Primary 3 & 4: Building Scientific Curiosity & Foundational Concepts

Science begins at Primary 3, where students are introduced to the five key themes of the MOE Science syllabus: Diversity, Cycles, Systems, Interactions, and Energy. At P3–P4, the focus is on developing scientific curiosity, observation skills, and a foundational understanding of the living and non-living world. Students learn to ask questions, conduct simple investigations, and connect scientific ideas to everyday life.

MOE Syllabus Themes & Topics

The Primary Science syllabus is organised around five themes. The following topics are covered at this level group.
Diversity

P3 and P4 students sit school-based semestral assessments that test both factual recall and application. We prepare students for these with structured practice on multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, and simple data-interpretation tasks.

How Aspire Hub Helps at Primary 3 & 4

01

Inquiry-Based Learning

We guide students through the scientific inquiry process — observing, questioning, hypothesising, and concluding — so they develop genuine scientific thinking, not just memorised facts.

02

Concept Mapping and Visual Learning

Science at P3–P4 involves many interconnected concepts. We use concept maps, diagrams, and visual summaries to help students see the relationships between ideas and retain them more effectively.

03

Structured Answering Techniques

We train students to answer science questions using the ‘because–therefore’ and ‘state–explain–link’ frameworks, building the precise scientific language that earns marks in school assessments.

01

Connecting Science to Everyday Life

We make science relevant by connecting every topic to real-world examples — from the materials in everyday objects to the magnets in their pencil cases — making concepts memorable and meaningful.

Our Approach to Science

Language Learning That Goes Beyond the Textbook.

Science is not a subject to be memorised — it is a way of thinking. At Aspire Hub, we develop students’ ability to observe, question, hypothesise, investigate, and conclude. We train students not just to recall facts, but to apply scientific concepts to novel situations — the skill that distinguishes high-scoring PSLE students.

Our coaches are trained in the PSLE Science paper format and marking criteria. Every session is designed to build both conceptual depth and examination technique, ensuring students can communicate their scientific understanding clearly and precisely.

P5 – P6

Primary 5 & 6: PSLE Readiness — Higher-Order Thinking & Scientific Reasoning

P5 and P6 Science builds significantly on the foundational concepts from P3–P4, introducing more complex topics including reproduction, the water cycle, human body systems, electrical systems, forces, photosynthesis, energy conversion, and environmental interactions. The PSLE Science paper demands not just factual knowledge but the ability to apply concepts to novel situations, interpret data, and construct well-reasoned scientific explanations.

MOE Syllabus Themes & Topics

The Primary Science syllabus is organised around five themes. The following topics are covered at this level group.
Cycles

P6 students sit the PSLE Science paper, which consists of multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions requiring scientific reasoning. We prepare students for both sections, with particular emphasis on the open-ended questions, which require structured, precise scientific explanations.

How Aspire Hub Helps at Primary Science 5 & 6

01

PSLE-Aligned Application Practice

We train students on PSLE-style questions that require applying concepts to unfamiliar situations — the most challenging question type in the PSLE Science paper. Students practise with real past-year questions under guided conditions.

02

Data Interpretation and Graph Reading

PSLE Science increasingly tests the ability to read tables, graphs, and experimental data. We dedicate focused sessions to data interpretation, teaching students to extract information, identify trends, and draw conclusions.

03

Precision in Scientific Language

Many students lose marks not because they don’t know the concept, but because they can’t express it precisely. We train students to use exact scientific terminology and structured answer formats that match PSLE marking criteria.

01

Systems Thinking

P5–P6 Science is heavily systems-based. We help students understand how the parts of each system interact — whether it’s the circulatory system, an electrical circuit, or a food web — so they can answer questions about cause and effect with confidence.
